Tarpon Springs Storms Lead to Mold in Homes

3/10/2022 (Permalink)

When mold is disturbed, the mold can release microscopic mold spores which become airborne and can circulate inside your home.

A mold infestation is common anywhere there is standing water or excessive moisture in the air or trapped within wood and carpets. If a room or area previously flooded hasn't been cleaned and dried quickly, the fungi can grow.

Even when the obvious signs such as warped floors and stained carpets have been restored, there may still remain a mold hazard. Mold damage in Tarpon homes has to be addressed quickly.

SERVPRO of Tarpon technicians have the expertise and the equipment to help prevent the proliferation of breeding grounds for mold and remove all known traces.

If the mold has developed inside the walls, that area of drywall and its framing will probably have to be replaced if the cardboard backing has been ruined. If no mold is uncovered but excess moisture is detected, our tech teams have a series of dehumidifiers to take care of the problem and help prevent future outbreaks.

These same exhaust fans are also used to blow mold spores through your HVAC system and out of your home using negative pressure. To make sure the process is complete, your HVAC will also require vacuuming using HEPA filtered devices, scrubbing using anti-fungal foggers along with the fans to destroy as much of the mold and spores as is possible. Every air filter must also be replaced.

Since we are locally owned and operated, we are able to respond quicker with the right resources, which is extremely important. A fast response lessens the damage, limits further damage, and reduces the restoration cost.

Roof/chimney leaks, wet basements, or condensation from ducts that dampen surrounding insulation are just a few examples of issues that make a house a prime target for mold growth. Mold growth can occur in any home, so it’s important to keep an eye out for situations that might promote mold activity.

Our inspectors can help determine if there are any areas at risk. Keep in mind, if you smell and see mold, there is no need to spend money on testing.
